Modern Chinese writing consists of thousands of kanji characters, all supported by Unicode.
CJK characters and fonts
When using CJK characters (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) it is important to use a Chinese font. The same character will appear slightly differently in each language.
Vertical Writing on the Web
Although this is no longer common, Chinese can be written vertically, top-to-bottom. Two CSS properties should be used, though they are not supported in all browsers:

Many more kanji characters have been used throughout China’s history. Many of these characters have been added to Unicode, to digitize historical documents. You can search the Unicode spec to find several blocks of historical Chinese kanji.
